FAQ’s
What is athlete sponsorship?
Athlete sponsorship is the process by which a company supports an athlete in his or her endeavors as an amateur or professional competitor. When most people hear about sponsorship, they envision multi million-dollar deals. However, fortunately for all athletes, the multi million-dollar deal is not the common scenario in sports sponsorship. Sponsorship can instead involve Discounts, Free Products or Services, Expenses Paid or Subsidized, Entry Fees Paid, Performance Bonuses, and/or Salary. You frequently see competitive athletes wearing team jerseys, riding team vehicles, and sporting team-edition equipment - this is partially how sponsors are identified.
What do you want to see in my sponsorship proposal?
It is helpful to see some personal background information pertaining to your sport, a race resume, tentative race schedule, and sponsorship proposal. Think of your proposal as a creative writing assignment, not just a fact sheet. Sponsors read a lot of proposals and welcome those that are both informative and fun to read. Let them know what's unique about you and how you can have a mutually beneficial relationship
